We've partnered with Ticket Alternative (based in Atlanta, Georgia) to provide exceptional service and ticket-buying flexibility while charging convenience/services fees significantly lower than other online ticketing companies. These fees--which vary by ticket price--cover their credit-card processing fees and ticket handling/mailing expenses. Emory does not receive any of the service fees charged.
A note on ticket prices:
The event ticket prices are set at a level to cover the costs of the event. Events of this magnitude, particularly in facilities not designed for major theater-style events, and those needing costly security and transportation accommodations to move 20,000 people safely through the process, carry very high costs. His Holiness the Dalai Lama does not accept a speaking fee, and asks that ticket prices be set at a level which covers the costs of the events so that the host does not bear any financial burden for his visit. Any funds raised through ticket sales and sponsorship packages, above and beyond the costs to produce the event, will go directly to the Emory-Tibet Partnership and the Emory-Tibet Science Initiative (through Emory College of Arts and Sciences) to further the work that the Dalai Lama is here to support.
In addition to ticket delivery by mail or will-call, we are pleased to offer print-at-home ticketing options for The Visit 2010. You may select from these options when purchasing your tickets
You may purchase your tickets online (preferred), by telephone, or at seven Atlanta-area retail locations. Tickets to the Teaching to the Buddhist Community are not available through Ticket Alternative. They may be obtained through the Drepung Loseling Monastery (www.drepung.org) beginning July 6, 2010. Tickets to the Progress and Possibilities and Honoring the Professor lunches are available only through the sponsorship packages.
Before you purchase: Please be sure that you are selecting the correct event(s) and that you are aware of the arrival timing requirements (often well before the event-start time) and parking arrangements. Monday and Tuesday events require off-site parking in designated area lots (free shuttles provided). Bleacher seating is general-admission and those bench-type seats do not have backs. See event listings for more details. Click to view the venue seating chart (PDF).
Bleacher seats are padded, wooden, bench-type seats with no backs. Personal “stadium chair seat-backs” are not permitted through security. Please select a floor seat if you require a chair with a back. Wheelchair seating is available in all zones. Large video screens are provided for enhanced viewing. The facility is wheelchair accessible. Spaces for wheelchairs will be made available at the base of the bleachers. Space limitations allow for only one companion seat next to each wheelchair. Events at the Woodruff Physical Education Center will feature American Sign Language interpreting. Please see an usher for directions to the appropriate seating area. Again, space limitations allow for only one companion seat next to the guest requesting American Sign Language interpretation services. If you have a hearing impairment, and do not utilize American Sign Language interpreting (a signer will be present at all public events), we recommend that you bring a personal audio amplification device. There are not any seats or zones that are "closer to the audio speakers" since the speakers are flown well above the audience and project evenly throughout the venue. No cameras, recording devices, laptop computers, large purses, bags, backpacks, or other prohibited items posted at the venue will be allowed into venues. There will be no place to check those items, so please lock all bags and prohibited items securely in your car or leave them at home. All attendees are required to clear security and are subject to search. All purses and containers will be inspected. Please approach the security screening as if you were planning to travel through airport security. Do not wear or carry metal items, and be prepared with government-issued photo identification). Cell phones are permitted, but must be turned off during the program. One clear plastic bottle of water per guest is permitted. Please help our campus recycling efforts by using the appropriate trash containers.
